Description

Henstridge was considered an innovator and promoter of cordwood homes, an exterior-wall construction technique that used exposed piled cordwood in a generous mortar bed. Reaching its crest of popularity in the 1970s and early 1980s during the "back to the land" movement, the homes speak of a particular aesthetic and a philosophy of living and building simply using local resources. Henstridge's own house in Upper Gagetown incorporated a homemade geodesic dome.
