Description

Sol Labonté, a French Canadian woodcutter and cook extraordinaire, discovers a treasure map directing him to Pugwash Lookout. He sets off with his friends to find the elusive location, travelling by taxi deep into the northern woods. Sol and his companions are aided by a so-called magic man and a host of talking animals before reaching their destination. Upon arrival they must face the Little Spirit of Massawunk who guards the treasure. Sol Labonté is an unconventional adventure tale that mixes modern conveniences with Indigenous practices and lore. The oversized book has eight full-page, colour illustrations. The pages with text each have four small black-and-white illustrations, typically of animals or Sol's friends, on spot colour running down the margins. The illustrations are cartoonish in style.

Physical Description: 85 pp. 21.4 cm x 28.5 cm; hardcover.
