The Children's Guide to Montreal
Publication Details
In addition to its original children's books, Brunswick Press added new titles to its catalogue from previously published series. Between 1945 and 1950, Leonard Knott wrote six books in the Children's Book of/Guide to —" series, published by Editorial Associates, a Montreal public relations firm that printed its books in Boston. These titles were as follows: The Children's Book of the Saguenay (1945); The Children's Book of the Great Lakes (1946); The Children's Guide to Boston (1946); The Children's Book of Trees (1949); The Children's Book about Pulp and Paper (1949); and The Children's Guide to Calgary (1950).
In 1952, new titles in this series by Knott and Gagnier began to be printed by Brunswick Press. The Children's Book of Roads (1952), The Children's Guide to Canada's Capital (1952), and The Children's Guide to Montreal (1955) still list copyright as belonging to Editorial Associates, but the books clearly indicate that they are "Published by Brunswick Press, Limited" and "Printed in Canada by University Press of New Brunswick, Ltd." The Children's Guide to Montreal was reissued in 1967 in celebration to the city's hosting of the World Expo. With this second, extensively revised edition (thirty-four pages in length), Brunswick Press is listed as publisher, printer, and copyright holder.
