Description

This study recounts in detail the emergence, evolution, and eventual decline of Canada’s textile industry, from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century, with a few exceptions that maintained production to the 1990s. The primary focus is on the architecture of factory buildings, especially brick mills. A short chapter on New Brunswick describes late-19th century mills at Marysville, Saint John, and Milltown.
