The rebuilding of Saint John, New Brunswick: 1877-1881

An illustrated account of the rebuilding of Saint John following the devastating Great Fire of June `1877 which laid waste to most of the city's central peninsula. The resulting sweep of commercial and residential buildings designed by American and Canadian architects, many who immigrated to the city to satisfy the new building demand, is considered one of Canada's most thorough assemblages of late Victorian architecture.
