Deborah Joy Corey
1958-

Deborah Joy Corey was born (1958) and raised in Temperance Vale, New Brunswick, the sixth of seven children. At 17 she moved to Toronto and pursued a modelling career, but returned to New Brunswick due to illness. Her first novel, Losing Eddie (1993) won the SmithBooks/Books in Canada First Novel Award in 1994. She has written a second novel, The Skating Pond (2003), many short stories, and has published articles in literary journals and magazines. She published Settling twice: lessons from then and now in 2017. She currently resides in Maine.

    Scope and Content Note

    Fonds consists of records relating to the creation and publishing of Losing Eddie, a work of fiction written by Deborah Joy Corey. Includes correspondence, a radio play and screenplay based on the book, newspaper clippings, book reviews and other publicity to promote the book. Includes the actual edited manuscripts and proofs of Losing Eddie. Also contains essays and exam responses for a course that used Losing Eddie as reading material.
