Laval Goupil
1945-2000
Born in Tracadie, NB on 15 July 1945, Laval Goupil did his elementary and high school studies in Shippagan, then attended the Université de Sherbrooke and the Université de Moncton. Cabaret host and director of several plays, Goupil showed a great deal of interest in theatre. He played several roles, particularly as part of the Université de Moncton's theatre troupe, and then as part of Le Théâtre amateur de Moncton. In 1974, he published Tête d’eau and played the role of the hero Onil when the play was performed at the Centre culturel de Moncton. The following year, he published Le djibou, a play written in the language of the Acadians of northeastern New Brunswick and performed by Les Productions de l’Étoile (Caraquet). He died in his home in Caraquet, on 29 March 2000.
