"A Scandal in Chignecto: The Reverend Alexander Robinson Affair"

Presbyterian Alexander Robinson was a Reformed Presbyterian minister serving in the Chignecto Isthmus area of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. He had been accused of immorality with servants in his household in 1855, and was finally suspended in 1863. His appeal of the charges within the church took until 1876 to resolve. His reputation within the Presbyterian Synod then led to further disputes, including another suspension for contempt, and, at the time of his death in 1886, Robinson had still not been restored full time to a ministry.
