Description

New Brunswick's Centennial Building in downtown Fredericton is the finest example of International style high modernist architecture in the province. Opened in 1967, the 23,200 square-metre building was conceived during the progressive term of Premier Louis Robichaud to house much of the provincial civil service. As the structure aspired to cater to "the cultural as well as the functional," a large sculptural mural, each by a different New Brunswick artist, was installed in the lobby of every floor. The book relates the story of the building, its architecture, and the artworks which are considered unique and important in themselves.
