Description

Toronto-based Edmund Burke was one of Canada's most esteemed architects during the late-19th and early 20th century. In 1881 Burke married Minnie Black of Sackville which led to his connection to the small New Brunswick town. Burke would design a number of elaborate houses in Sackville, as well as three buildings for Mount Allison University: the Owens Art Gallery, Jarius Hart Hall, and the men's residence which was later destroyed by fire.
