Laurel Boone
Dr. Laurel Boone was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan in 1942. She attended McGill University, receiving an Honours BA in English Literature in 1963, and the University of Maine where she obtained an MA in English Medieval Literature in 1977. She was awarded a PhD from the University of New Brunswick in 1981 for her thesis The Collected poems of William Wilfred Campbell. Dr. Boone is a frequent contributor to literary magazines and scholarly journals and has served as a Contributing Editor to Books in Canada. She edited William Wilfred Campbell: selected poetry and essays published by Wilfrid Laurier University Press in 1987. In 1989, Dr. Boone edited The Collected Letters of Charles G.D. Roberts for Goose Lane Editions, Fredericton. For 15 years she was an editor for Goose Lane Editions, retiring from that position in 2006.

Roberts collected letters project, most notably, the acquisition of copies of his letters, the completion of research and the preparation of the published volume. It also documents the career of Canadian literary figure Charles G. D. Roberts and reflects his varied activities as a writer, an editor and a promoter of Canadian literature. It contains photocopies of letters, written by Charles G. D. Roberts to family, friends, acquaintances and business associates, which form the content of Laurel Boone's The Collected Letters of Charles G. D. Roberts. A very few original letters written by Roberts and copies of several letters written to him are included. The fonds also contains the working files of the project which include correspondence, financial records, research material and draft typescript manuscripts, as well as photographs of Charles G. D. Roberts and his family, friends and acquaintances. Many of these images were included in the published volume.
