Valerie Sherrard
1957-

Valerie Sherrard was born on 16 May 1957 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and has made her home in New Brunswick since 1979.  Her experience fostering adolescents and working as Executive Director of a group home for teens prompted her to write for children and teens. She has written four pictures books and over 20 young adult novels, including Kate (2003), Speechless (2007) and The Glory Wind (2010), as well as two works of non-fiction. She published Standing on Neptune in 2023. She was winner of the Word Guild Award for Writing for Young People (2013), the Geoffrey Bilson Historical Fiction for Young People Award (2011) and the Ann Connor Brimer Award (2011).
