Cindy Spear
1959-

Cindy L. Spear, born in or around Saint John, NB, moved to Australia ca. 1997.  She is a professional poet and lyricist. Spear has been featured on CBC radio and television and on the historical DVD When the Ships Sailed In a project of the Great Irish Famine 150th Anniversary Commemoration Committee. Song ‘Exile of the Night’ containing Spear’s lyrics (from Last Knight’s Talking to the Moon CD) won best Singer-Songwriter Award from Akademia Music Awards of Los Angeles, California. Spear has two poetry books Favoured by Romance (1980, published by Fiddlehead Poetry Books) and Awakened (1994). Spear has an English Literature Degree with Creative Writing. Spear’s photographs have appeared frequently in the award-winning literary magazine The New Brunswick Reader along with her poetry and articles.
