Rick Burns
1949-2004

Richard “Rick” Michael Burns (writer of short stories and plays) was born 3 December 1949 in Middleton NS and studied at the University of New Brunswick. He later apprenticed in sculpture with Rosemary James Cross. For many years, Burns devoted his energies to teaching at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in Fredericton. In 1987 he was appointed to the Cultural Task Force of the NB Arts Board responsible for creating provincial cultural policy. He was a founding member of Gallery Connexion, an artist run centre in Fredericton. Burns wrote a play entitled The Garden (part of series produced for UNB Drama Society and CBC Radio). Burns died on 9 November 2004.
